A Masthead That Makes Way

Your title sets in blackletter across the top, above a bar of your sections. As the reader scrolls, the masthead folds into a slim strip, so the identity is there on arrival and out of the way while reading. Upload your own logo and it takes the masthead's place.

Five Ways to Open a Story

The picture under the headline, a full-screen photograph with the headline set over it, the image beside the text, a video first with related stories at its side, or no image at all. A breaking report and a photo feature should not start the same way, so you choose per story, in the editor.

Every story ends with the previous one and three more on the same subject, every author's bio and links, and comments. Sharing covers twelve places from one dialog. The reader who finishes an article always has somewhere to go next.

How do the topic sections on the front page work?
Type tag slugs into the three section settings in Ghost's design panel. Each tag becomes a section in the order you type it, and each of the three groups has its own layout: text beside a picture, a four-column grid, or a two-column spread. Leave a group empty and it disappears. The category sections docs show the settings.
Where is the menu on post and tag pages?
The horizontal section bar under the masthead appears on the front page. On every other page the masthead is already in its slim state and navigation lives in the drawer behind the menu icon, together with search, your social links and the sign-in and subscribe buttons. Your secondary navigation appears in the footer.
Can I use my own logo instead of the blackletter masthead?
Yes. The blackletter is what the site title looks like when no logo is uploaded. Upload a logo in Ghost's design settings and it takes the masthead's place, and you can add a second version for the dark scheme. See the logo section of the docs.
Do readers get a dark mode?
Yes. You set the default to light, dark or the reader's system preference, and a sun and moon switch in the header lets readers change it for their visit. You can hide the switch if you would rather keep one look.
Does Tribune have a table of contents for long articles?
No. Tribune is built for a front page of many shorter stories. If you publish long essays that need a table of contents, Senna and Reru both have one on posts you tag for it.
Where do the prices on the Membership page come from?
From your tiers in Ghost. The template reads their monthly and yearly prices and benefits and lays them out as cards with a Monthly/Yearly toggle. A tier with a free trial says so, and each button opens Portal at that plan. Setup steps are in the Membership page docs.
Which Ghost version does the Tribune theme support?
Tribune is compatible with Ghost 5 & 6, and was last updated Jun 2026. It installs on any current Ghost site, whether self-hosted or on Ghost(Pro).
