Start With a Search

The homepage opens with your name, one line about the site, and a search field. Beneath it, your featured stories in a carousel of portrait cards, then the latest. A reader with a question gets an answer before they scroll.

We put search where a hero usually goes. An archive is only as good as the way in.

Search That Knows Your Site

The theme's own search window covers posts, authors and tags, and suggests your writers and most-used topics before a single letter is typed. Results come with the post image, the authors and the tags, so a reader can tell what they found.

Nine Ways to Open a Story

The picture beside the title, above it, or after it, each plain or with a soft blur of the same image behind the header. Or the blur alone. A portrait, an interview and a quiet essay each get the opening they deserve, chosen per post in the editor.

Seven Shades of Paper

Light, Zensen, Sakura, Botan, Blau, Midnight and Dark. Five are tints of the page, from warm stone to pale blue, and two are dark. Turn on the dark option and the site follows the reader's device into Midnight or Dark, with your logo inverted to match.

Membership, Inside the Theme

A membership page priced from your Ghost tiers, sign-in and sign-up pages without the site chrome, and an account page where each member sees their plan, their card and their next billing date. Gated stories show a preview and a crown on their cards.

Tags, Two Ways

A tags page as image cards, or as a list with descriptions and counts. Pick whichever suits the number of topics you have. A contact page rounds out the set.

Made For

Minimal magazines, creatives and archives that readers search rather than browse. If your readers want a light and dark switch of their own, Rune and Nio offer one. If they want the menu always in view, Senna keeps it in a sidebar.

Shiro questions

What does the search cover?
Posts by title and excerpt, authors by name, and tags by name, all from your own site. Before the reader types, the search window offers your authors and most-used tags as starting points. Results show the post image, its authors and its tags. It is the theme's own search, built in, and does not depend on Ghost's search script.
Is there a dark mode?
Yes. Turn on the dark option and Shiro follows the reader's device, switching to Midnight or Dark, whichever you pick. There is no switch in the interface; the device decides. Your logo is inverted on the dark background so it stays legible. See the color scheme docs.
Why nine post layouts?
Four positions for the feature image: beside the title on the left or the right, above it, or after it. Each comes plain or with a blurred copy of the image behind the header, which makes eight. The ninth keeps only the blur and no picture, for posts where the image is a mood rather than a subject. The post styles docs show all nine.
How do I set up the membership pages?
Create four pages in Ghost at the addresses signin, signup, account and membership, give each its matching template, and turn on the custom membership pages setting. From then on the header links open your pages instead of Portal. The membership page prices itself from your tiers, and the account page shows each member their plan, card and next billing date. The members section of the docs walks through it.
How does the homepage load more posts?
Your choice of three: previous and next buttons, a Load More button, or infinite scroll. Set it once in the design settings.
Can I add dropdown menus?
No. Shiro's menu is a single row of links. When there are more than fit, the extra items move into a Menu button on their own, and on phones every item lives there. If you need dropdown groups, Homa and Nio both have them.
Which Ghost version does the Shiro theme support?
Shiro is compatible with Ghost 5 & 6, and was last updated May 2026. It installs on any current Ghost site, whether self-hosted or on Ghost(Pro).
How much does the Shiro theme cost, and is there a refund?
Shiro is a one-time purchase of $149 with no subscription, backed by a 14-day money-back guarantee so you can try it risk-free.
Do I need to know how to code to use Shiro?
No. Install Shiro from Ghost Admin by uploading the theme zip, then adjust fonts, colors, navigation, and homepage options through Ghost's built-in settings and code injection. No coding is required to set it up.
What is included, and where do I get help setting up Shiro?
Your purchase includes the Shiro theme package plus full documentation at luxethemes.com/docs/shiro covering installation, customization, and every feature. You can also reach support through the contact page.
